Should there be a compromise among playing via The Rules of Golf and having exact sportsmanship?
Controversy was recently stirred at The Solheim Cup by Team Europe's Suzann Pettersen after angrily demanding that Alison Lee be penalized after turning her back and not conceding a two to three-foot putt. Lee picked up the putt after assuming it had been given by Pettersen...but it had not and we all know never to assume.
The Rules of Golf in healthy play (loosely) kingdom that, except the putt is conceded, the ball is in play. Team USA lost the in shape and there were bad feelings all round wherein there must had been cameraderie and pats at the lower back on each facets irrespective of the Team.
?I wish in time the U.S. Crew will forgive me and understand that I even have discovered a valuable lesson,? Pettersen said.
What changed into that precious lesson?
Pettersen stated she turned into "trying my hardest for my group and put the unmarried suit and the factor that might be earned in advance of sportsmanship and the game of golfing itself!"
Dust-ups like this have a familiar ring to them, for example, in Scotland at the 2000 Solheim Cup, Annika Sorenstam, "charged the Americans with bad sportsmanship in an 'ugly' incident" after being told to replay a shot which she chipped in because she played out-of-turn. USGA states, "While there is no penalty for playing out of turn in match play, the opponent can immediately recall any stroke which is played out of turn and require it to be played at the proper time."
Ah, The Rules of Golf within competitive golf reared its ugly head...perhaps Golf is becoming an Impolite Game?
When gambling on your weekly foursome, it's generally polite (and right etiquette) to play "ready golfing" and there are concessions made with out the fanfare of a "you could take that" or a nod a good way to preserve the path shifting along but what about while there are a trophy and/or a paycheck on the line - does courtesy and sportsmanship take a lower back seat?
Should there be golf regulations for "the relaxation people?"
The following video is a joking appearance from Tripp and Tyler at what would happen if the common golfer could bear in mind to a unique set of policies...ENJOY and I apprehend in case you giggle out loud.
Perhaps the heat of the instant brings out the worst in humans, or, perhaps assuming that the competitor is your buddy at some point of a suit and will automatically make that "gimme putt" is in which the problem lies.
As Pettersen aptly stated, "I am so sorry for now not considering the larger picture in the warmness of the war and opposition."
Do you observed there should be a brand new rule inside the etiquette segment permitting two-foot gimmes in aggressive match-play golfing?
