There are numerous factors to don't forget while an amateur comes to a decision whether or now not to play an aggressive or safe golf shot, from the lie of the ball to wherein your subsequent shot will land. Do you typically pass for the ones photographs which could have repercussions or do you lay up?
I must admit that most of the time I go for the safe method, figuring I would instead have a 2nd shot that I should make in place of choosing myself out of troubles that lie ahead. There are instances, but, where the secure shot isn't usually the exceptional option.
Case in factor... Gary Woodland, at some stage in the final round of the 2019 U.S. Open, determined on an aggressive play knowing that the problem that lay ahead, specifically, Brooks Koepka, was a birdie putt faraway from a tie for the lead.
What did Woodland do?
Well, in this example, his caddie made the final name which became for Woodland to take a three-timber and hit the ball 255 yards to a raised inexperienced, knowing that par wouldn't win the U.S. Open.
The golf ball landed on the perimeter and Woodland wound up with a birdie, setting him in advance of Koepka and in a position to win.
Not many amateurs can hit a 255-backyard 3 timber (mainly under stress) but while must we take the lengthy shot in golf or play it safe?
There are several bullet points to remember before taking a protracted shot.
- Never cross for low percent photographs. If there may be trouble close to your goal and you observed the golfing membership you chose gets you there, steer clear!
- Get out of problem adequately. If your golfing ball is buried within the woods or at the back of a tree, don't strive a miracle shot - rather, get the ball again into the golf green with a study the inexperienced.
- Take the hassle out of play from your first shot. Position your self nicely so that, in case you want that subsequent shot to be a miracle, you have got the option.
